| 7/2/26 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) issued the following statement in response to news that the US Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, expelled two journalists working for The European Correspondent from Freedom 250 celebrations in Brussels. Police briefly detained and questioned the journalists, and said they had been informed that the journalists were a security threat.
"It is ludicrous that, on the anniversary of America declaring itself free from tyranny, the US Ambassador to Belgium, at his massive party for the occasion, kicked out an American and a European journalist simply for asking questions. When the reporters emailed the embassy for comment about the incident, Ambassador White personally responded, 'Both of you are losers. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.' Americans expect their top diplomats to at least respect the nation's founding values in their official duties. We hope Ambassador White will turn his attention to the matter of the Constitution before he disgraces it again."
